Moongala is a friendly, not for profit, community organisation located in East Bentleigh where people can come together in friendship, support and have a place to belong. We have been operating since 1980, supporting women and their families, providing a welcoming, relaxed environment conducive to friendship and learning, with a flexible and varied program responding to expressed community needs. Moongala offers a range of programs including Adult Community Further Education (ACFE) adult education classes for both men and women, art classes, craft groups, community art projects, friendship groups and support to assist participants to learn to improve their skills for work, study and actively being involved in community life. Programs such as: Computer training Sewing Skills Art Art & Craft, knitting, crocheting, adult colouring in and rock painting Friendship and support groups for women Moongala’s philosophy of “Caring through Sharing” has been our focus over the years and is reflected in our activities, our co-operative structure, operations and decision-making. Above all, Moongala is a place where you will feel welcome and valued, and will find someone who will listen. Most of all Moongala is a nice to belong to, joining in our activities or volunteering to help out, you will always find a friendly smile to greet you at the door, an abundance of care and kindness and where the kettle is always ready! Volunteers are vital to our organisation. We operate as a membership based Collective with members who volunteer their time and expertise working together providing ideas and labor, and sharing the decision-making. Volunteers and members can also help with fundraising, social activities and working bees as part of their membership. Other areas they can become involved in cover education, finance and administration, membership, fundraising, newsletters, facilitating a group, assisting with setting up for groups - all which help to keep the House running smoothly.
