Nepean Therapy Dogs Inc. provides trained visitation dogs with their handlers to members of the community who are vulnerable, isolated and in the final stages of life. Our goal is to bring happiness, to encourage people to engage with the community and to help people remember the good times they had with the dogs. We facilities across Greater Western Sydney, including hospitals, aged care facilities, schools, universities and corporate environments. All visits are supervised by a highly trained dog handler. Each team (dog and handler) are assessed to find their strengths and weaknesses. Depending on the results, teams are trained in specialised areas working with; children, disabled, young adults, elderly, palliative care, emergency services and mental illness. Each Nepean Therapy Dogs Inc. handler is trained, capable and proficient in the environment they are visiting.
