The front desk is the welcoming face of the QMMA, and requires a friendly attitude, and ability to serve both international and Australian visitors. A second language in addition to English is an added benefit. To be eligible for this position, you should be able to volunteer at least one full day a week.

Historical enthusiasts, we have a role for you! The Queensland Military Historical Society's new museum at Fort Lytton are looking for Guides for our Exhibition Gallery and be responsible for interacting with the general public and helping them to learn about Queensland's rich Military History. The role is combined with a Collection Assistant position where you will have the opportunity to help manage our collection of 12,000 items.
Volunteers are required to help existing demonstrators deliver hands on displays to groups of school children touring the Beenleigh Historic village during school hours. The displays takes approximately 30 minutes per group with up to 4 groups with larger schools. Demonstrators are expected to work at least 2 days per week during school weeks.
Guides and Demonstrators are required for Beenleigh Historic Village & Museum to help organise and entertain year 1 & 2 students visiting the village as part of their school curriculum. These very rewarding roles help our young students get an understanding of the way their grandparents were raised and educated. Last year approximately 20,000 school students visited our village and we need your help to make this a truly memorable experience for them.
The Museum has a large collection of photographs and other artefacts. All this needs to be properly digitised and entered into an online collections management database for purposes of managing and conserving the collections, creating physical and online exhibitions, marketing the Museum and establishing new revenue opportunities. We are looking for an Assistant to the Managing Curator to make this happen and thereby enhance the credibility and sustainability of the organisation.
Undertake guided tours of the Museum as necessary. Undertake Gallery Attendant duties in allocated gallery, as per roster. Meet and greet, and interact with members of the public. Answer visitor questions, as required. Direct visitors to appropriate services (i.e. toilet, water fountain, seats disabled facilities etc). Other duties as directed.
