The Queensland Military Historical Society's new museum at Fort Lytton needs Guides who will be stationed in our Exhibition Gallery and be responsible for interacting with the general public and safeguarding our exhibitions.
Volunteers in this role create finding aids to records in the collection that contain names of individuals which would not normally be accessible to researchers. Indexes are created in EXCEL, this work also contributes to QSA presence in the Government Open Data portal.
Queensland Maritime Museum attracts more than 40,000 visitors per annum including families, school groups, tour groups, inner-state and international visitors. We are now looking for enthusiastic Museum Guides to perform guided tours for individuals as well as larger groups visiting the museum for one or more days per week from 9.30 to 16.30.
Queensland Maritime Museum is open 7 days a week from 09:30 to 16:30. Front desk/shop attendants sell entry tickets and merchandise to visitors. For this position, experience in cash handling and customer service is beneficial, but not essential since full training will be given. Volunteers are rostered on site 1 to 3 days a week including Saturday and Sunday if they are available.
