MU’s campus is over 270ha, with about 40ha managed for biodiversity conservation. Join us in a range of hands- on, field based projects or join the MERG Committee. Wirambi Landcare is Western Australian not-for-profit organisation focused on increasing the awareness of our unique wildlife. Much of the work we do is out in the field weeding, planting and monitoring. We have three sites in the City of Melville which are Blue Gum Lake, Booragoon Lake and Quenda Wetland where we assist the council’s bushcrew and the friends of group in caring for these reserves.
We are looking for people who are interested in learning more about growing plants and vegetables as well as people who have a vast knowledge of gardening and who can lend a hand or "Green Thumb"!

The Friends of Booragoon and Blue Gum Lakes, is involved in revegetation at the lakes. We meet on a monthly basis to weed around the plants we’ve planted in past years, and we also schedule planting days at both lakes

Assist with propagation (cutting) of native plants and other general nursery duties.
We require people to assist us in transforming Northams rivers and trails into an environmentally friendly place which can be enjoyed by locals and visitors. We meet at 9am Friday mornings for an hour or so and you can come every week, every fortnight or even once a month if you like. You can work alone or with others and do as much or as little as you can. This is a great opportunity to learn new skills and make new friends plus get a little light exercise.
Are you available every now and then to attend clean up events? Would you like to join our database for irregular clean up events? Put your hand up and bask in the sun while doing your bit for your local swamp. You will be instrumental in participating in makeovers for the area to transform Emu Swamp into a beautiful, local wildlife oasis. We have plants to sow, weeding to do and rubbish to clean. Tools and gloves supplied.
Volunteers are needed to help with the gardening in the historical gardens and grounds of the Old Farm Strawberry Hill. Tasks could include any of the following: weeding, pruning, planting, digging, using a mulcher and ride on mower.
Board member to attend Board Meetings and serve on one or more sub-committees. An interest in the environment and horticulture is required. Legal experience and an interest in governance would be welcome attributes.

Working with a group of 6 to 8 volunteers to maintain the 11 km of walk-trails in the park. This includes annual pruning of overgrowth, oiling/staining some wooden bridges, etc. Repairing steps, signs, etc, and occasionally removing rubbish. General duties as required.
Wildcare helpline adviser volunteers respond to telephone inquiries from members of the public who have found sick or injured wildlife. They provide advice and refer callers to a further network of specialised volunteers who rehabilitate these animals so they can be released back into the wild.
