The Orangutan Project (TOP) is a dynamic, fast-growing and successful not-for-profit organisation that fights for orangutan conservation by securing land and rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing ex-captive orangutans. Our activities have positive flow-on effects that protect other endangered species such as the Sumatran tiger, elephant and rhino, as well as indigenous communities in the remaining rainforest of Borneo and Sumatra.

Green Team Volunteer

  • Location: Aranda ACT
  • Commitment: Regular - more than 6 months
  • Category: Environment & Conservation

This is a specialised field activity, assisting on various sites around the Canberra region. It is preferred that all interested volunteers attend 3 of our Nursery sessions on Wednesday mornings, prior to joining this group. This will give you time to better understand what we do here at Greening Australia and we are also able to ensure that you are comfortable with and are aware of our processes and procedures, for both nursery and field work.

Nursery Volunteer

Native plants underpin everything we do. By helping at our community nursery in Aranda, you will be playing a direct role in our on-ground work by supporting the production of trees, shrubs, wildflowers and grasses for our projects across the region. You will be assisting with tasks such as weeding, propagating, and thinning our native seedlings. No experience is needed to attend and we welcome volunteers of all ages. For anyone under age 18, a guardian/carer is required to come along as well.
