ACT Wildlife rehabilitates injured, sick and orphaned native animals to return them to the wild. Our interface with the public is our 24/7 phone. The day is broken into several shifts and you would be required to have our phone diverted to yours for a shift a week, a fortnight or month, depending on your availability. You will be working from home and have access to our online database to record calls.

This is a specialised field activity, assisting on various sites around the Canberra region. It is preferred that all interested volunteers attend 3 of our Nursery sessions on Wednesday mornings, prior to joining this group. This will give you time to better understand what we do here at Greening Australia and we are also able to ensure that you are comfortable with and are aware of our processes and procedures, for both nursery and field work.

Native plants underpin everything we do. By helping at our community nursery in Aranda, you will be playing a direct role in our on-ground work by supporting the production of trees, shrubs, wildflowers and grasses for our projects across the region. You will be assisting with tasks such as weeding, propagating, and thinning our native seedlings. No experience is needed to attend and we welcome volunteers of all ages. For anyone under age 18, a guardian/carer is required to come along as well.

Want to help care and maintain your local neighborhood urban parks and places? Urban Parks and Places Volunteering is a partnership between the local community and the ACT Government. The program enables the Canberra community to assist with the maintenance and care of local public spaces. There are currently 35 urban volunteer groups that help out in these areas.
